-
What type of contours are available on Douglas Barrels?
We offer customers the opportunity to choose from a wide array of contours for their ultra-rifled barrel depending on the application. Some available options include Palma Barrels, Sporter Barrels, Featherweight Barrels, Target Style Barrels, and Remington Barrels.

-
What caliber options are available for custom gun barrels?
Douglas Barrels offers an extensive list of available caliber options that range from .17 caliber to the popular 7mm category and up to .50 caliber. We have extensive experience working with all popular gun brands including Creedmoor, Remington, Lapua, and Winchester.
-
What type of information should I have readily available when purchasing a custom gun barrel?
At a minimum, we suggest that customers have a specific caliber, twist rate, and grade in mind when starting the purchasing process. Identifying the material (stainless steel or chrome moly), the grade, and barrel length are also crucial to machining an ultra-rifled barrel for your firearm.
-
What is the difference between air gauged and standard grade quality?
While every barrel that leaves Douglas Barrels is of premium quality the difference between air gauged and standard grade lies in the measurable variance between the intended bore dimensions and the final measurements. Air gauged barrels have a variance as low as .0001” while the variance of a standard grade barrel may be slightly more significant.
-
How do I determine what twist rate best suits by firearm and shooting application?
The twist rate of a barrel is largely dependent on the particular firearm you are using. A faster twist rate, or lower number, means that the bullet will spin faster after leaving the barrel and works best with modern long-range equipment. A higher twist rate typically delivers better performance in smaller caliber rifles. A rifle with a mismatched twist rate will fire a bullet that does not stabilize during flight and could result in poor accuracy.
Rebarreling
-
Why should I consider gun rebarreling with Douglas Barrels?
Upgrading your existing rifle with one of our premium ultra-rifled custom barrels will add noticeable improvements to the accuracy and precision of your gun. Our experienced machinists can match existing specifications or make suggestions on how to improve performance depending on the end use.
-
Do I need to ship my original barrel to your facility?
We can complete gun rebarreling projects without the original barrel; however, some customers do elect to ship their barrel to us at their own cost to ensure we match the existing specifications.
Please box up your barreled action or receiver in the safest manner you can to avoid any possible damage. Be sure to include your contact information, along with any special instructions, in the packaging so we can contact you in the event we have questions about your order. We encourage you to insure your package for an appropriate value with the shipper in case the package were to get lost or damaged during shipping. The shipping address to send your package is:

-
How will gun rebarreling impact the performance of my firearm?
Gun rebarreling can provide new life to a well-used rifle and most likely surpass the accuracy and performance of the factory-barrel from when you originally purchased the gun.
General
-
Why is the carbide push-button method better than other manufacturing methods?
Our inventive industry-unique carbide push-button method does not use subtractive machining to create rifling within the barrel. This helps to retain barrel integrity, create smoother rifling, and improve your rifle’s accuracy throughout the barrel’s lifespan.
